This month’s featured author is cnikki!  She is the author of Hand Me Down, You Belong With Me,  Georgia on My Mind, and many more!

1. How did you get into fan fiction? Why Robert Pattinson fan fiction?

In 6th grade I found NSYNC fan fiction. I don’t know how I found it, but I did. Then out of extreme boredom one summer I wrote Degrassi episodes because I really had nothing else to do with my time. I got into RP fan fic when I was procrastinating on projects this past year and didn’t want to start studying for finals. I came across Gravity by Summer (queenofpattinson) and was hooked. I want to write like her one day ;)

2. What made you decide to start writing fan fiction?

Again, I think it was the boredom at the time. That and I have this really vivid imagination. It’s fun to write about things will probably never (I always keep this in mind). Like my first fan fic ever was me and my friends in a music group, going on tour with NSYNC and I started dating Justin Timberlake (holla!). That’s been several years ago and look what’s happened. Also, I cannot sing so there’s that.

3. What is your writing process? Do you have a specific place you like to write, music you listen to, etc.?

I know if I have a specific writing process, though I tend to write most of my stuff in bed at night. As far as music, I have created playlists for certain fan fics (Need You Now and Don’t Panic) that help me stay in the zone but generally I listen to Sia, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and lately the Black Keys, Janelle Monae and Florence and the Machine.

4. How much research goes into the stories? Time spent on the internet? Personal experience?

Some stories require research if I’m dealing with a serious issues like Need You Now. Since it deals with a serious subject I wanted to make sure I was portraying it in a manner that was real and respectful to the topic. As far as calculations on distances between places, I don’t. Not because I don’t want to, I just…don’t.

Some of the stories have some personal experiences, mainly the jerky relationships with guys, some of the insecurities and the characters who are graphic designers/photographers (because that’s me).

5. What is the hardest/easiest part about writing?

Hmm, there are two things that make it hard to write. Lately I’ve tried not to write smut for the sake of smut. I like there to be some purpose behind it. I know Rob is a beautiful sexual being but I don’t want to write every other chapter as Rob and female character having sex. I want to tap into other parts of Rob as I’ve seen, read and heard from interviews; his love for music, books, movies, etc. Another hard thing: writing an unhappy ending is not fun or easy. When I started No Take Backs, I knew when I started how I wanted it to end but actually writing it hurt me. Then when readers asked (and in some cases pleaded) I had to be vague in order not to give anything away. All in all it’s just hard I get so attached to the characters, so when I kill them off, it’s tough on me as well. I’ve vowed rainbows, butterflies and compromise for the endings until I’m strong enough to write another tragic ending.

Easiest part of writing…is coming up with the initial plot. I may not know what I want to happened before or after, but if I have the initial plot down, I’m good.

6. Out of the stories you’ve written which is your favorite? Favorite character? Why?

I think there’s a three way tie between Noelle (Don’t Panic), Erin (Need You Now) and Georgia (Georgia on my Mind). Noelle taps into this sassiness that I like. Erin is a mess and her life is completely crazy. She has all these issues and you route for her because you feel like she deserves this happiness that she hasn’t had in her life. Georgia is very strong and confident in herself. It’s hard to explain why I love her so much but I just do.

7. What do you think makes a good story?

A mixture of comedy, drama, romance, etc. Even a dark angst story should have a few light moments in it to give the characters a break. A great comedy should have dramatic points, etc.

8. Is there any story (or book) you wish you could have written? Why?

Hmm…Eat, Love Pray is something I’m reading right now and love. I wish her experiences were mine because I want to take a year off and travel the world.

9. Do you have any writing tips?

Don’t take anything seriously or worry about what others will think; just write. It’s your story. Have fun! Also, (maybe not in concerns of writing) but try to comment back to your readers, even if it’s a general thank you before you start the next chapter. I don’t feel like anyone is obligated to read, so when people do it makes me happy and warm inside and I want those that read my story to know that.

10. Who’s your pick to be the next author interviewed?

LaLa (MissSpunk) because she’s an amazing writer

From readers:

1. What made you like Robert? Do you write Robert different then everyone else? And what is your favorite Robert story that you didn’t write? – queensofpattinson

A) I think reading his playlist on iTunes (because I’m a big music person) made me love him. That and I think realizing he’s not just some pretty Hollywood boy but there’s substance to him when you read about him. I’m gushing so much over the boy, but I can’t help it.

B) I hope I write Rob differently than other writers. To me, Rob comes off as someone who wants to learn about everything so for Georgia, I wanted to bring that out in the story. I also like to use quotes that people say about him (costars, family, best friends) and use it to develop my “Rob character.”

C) Haha oh Summer ;) it’s a toss-up between Gravity (you don’t know how many times I go back and read it, especially the ending), Sounds of January and Somersault.

2. What is the most important thing you have learned about writing that you would like to share with the other writers here? – m244robp

Hmmm, possibly not taking myself so seriously to the point I’m not enjoying it. When I write, it doesn’t have to be perfect especially in writing Rob. As I may have stated before, I write how I see Rob. I could be wrong be completely wrong about who Rob really is but it’s not a big deal because in the end, it’s all fiction.

3. How would you react if you actually had a chance to meet Rob? (this is a Rob-related site, right?) – m244rob

I would jump on him like fans did when he was filming Remember Me, get him to autograph a body part (I’m thinking arm, back of the leg, neck or shoulder) and have it tattooed on my body.

On all levels am I joking about that.

Honestly, I don’t know. I guess it depends on the place. I feel like he’s jumped on and yelled at so much I want to avoid being that person. Gosh…I really don’t know. Hopefully I’ll be calm, introduce myself, get a picture and it will be instant love (I kid, I kid, I kid…sort of).

Favorites:

- Book: Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller. It seriously is one of the best books I’ve ever read.

- Movie: The Brat Pack Club movies (Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, etc.) Rebel Without a Cause and Westside Story (they all tie).

- Actor/Actress: Johnny Depp and James Dean. I don’t know if I have a favorite actress…

- Band: right now: Florence and the Machine

- Song: This is hard. I have ‘Day too Soon’ on repeat right now so I’ll go with that.

- Cookie: GF Snickerdoole :D

Last Words:

Is there anything else you would like to say or share with us?

Thanks for reading! I’m so happy you guys have enjoyed the crazy randomness of my brain. I feel the love and I love each and every one of you!
