1. How did you get into fan fiction? Why Robert Pattinson fan fiction?

Um. I had to of been in, 8th grade. Wow. I feel so old. Yeah I was in 8th grade and I discovered 98 Degrees fan fiction. I read a few stories and thought, I can do this. It’ll be fun. I met so many great girls on the message board on their site and we just had so much fun creating these stories about 98 Degrees. Around that time I got my then best friend in on it and we wrote stories galore. Then between the summer of 8th and 9th my best friend got me into *Nsync and we started to write our own fantasy story about us and them. It was fun, we had great times together. This latest awhile, all through high school and I still take a dab about it now and then. They are here (http://nsync-fiction.com/viewuser.php?uid=16) if you would like to read. But, it has been a while.

Now, I got into Rob fan fiction because of Christine. I saw a post she made on another message board asking if anyone knew where to find good Rob fan fiction and I was like “What is that??” She sent me the link to her story (Ready and Waiting to Fall) and I was hooked. I read for a while then decided I should try my hand at it and see what I could do. I was nervous, I had only written *Nsync (mostly JC and Justin) stories so it took a little pushing but eventually I wrote and posted my first story “Right Here Waiting”.

2. What made you decide to start writing fan fiction?

I don’t really know. I think it was just a way for me to be creative. I was able to write out my fantasies with my dream guy and people got to read it and respond. It had also been a way for my friend and I to be creative together. We came up with so many different story lines and different things happening it was ridiculous. But so much fun! Right now it’s more of a way for me to vent. If something is bothering me, then I write and I usually feel better afterwards.

3. What is your writing process? Do you have a specific place you like to write, music you listen to, etc.?

Usually, I try to hand write things down in a notebook before I get it all typed out. It doesn’t always work that way but that is usually how I get going on things. Sometimes I only write down a snippet and it gets the ideas rolling. There is no specific place I like to write, but I do like to be alone—which doesn’t happen very often. I usually get to write late a night while watching TV (usually re-runs of old Law & Order: SVU episodes) or while I’m listening to music. When I finally get the chance to get stuff typed, I usually have my iPod on and it’s usually on shuffle mode. I don’t have an issue writing the stuff down; it’s more of getting it typed. I like to be alone while doing that as well and I don’t get to be often so sometimes it takes a little longer to get things out. I need to just get my own computer so I can take it wherever. :)

4. How much research goes into the stories? Time spent on the internet? Personal experience?

As many authors have said, research is key. Unfortunately, I don’t feel I am as good a writer as many because I lack the research. I try and do it but most of the time I get distracted or I start reading something else. I try and write about things that I know about, so that I don’t have to do much research. A lot of it is personal experience or things that other people have talked to me about. But mostly, this is fiction so I think if I smug a few details it’s not that big of a deal. LoL. But maybe that’s why my stuff isn’t as popular, which is fine but I’m just saying. I could put more time into research, and sometimes I really do but most of the time I make stuff up which is part of being a writer right?

5. What is the hardest/easiest part about writing?

I think the hardest part is trying to write something original. I’ve read tons of stories, and I don’t want to take someone else’s idea and write it as my own. But there are only so many ideas out there before things start to repeat. Luckily, this fandom is relatively new so there hasn’t been much done with it yet. I try to be as original as possible and not take anything that has been written already and turn it into something that is not my own. Also, you want to write something that someone will read, but also want to write something that you’re comfortable writing.

The easiest thing I think is, when the character you’ve been writing finally finds its voice. Then you really start getting into the story yourself even though you’re writing it. You are able to write something and say “Yes, this would definitely happen to him/her” and “They would react just this way to that situation.” That’s one of the best things. You want each character to be an individual. Sometimes they are a part of you that you never knew you had.

6. Out of the stories you’ve written which is your favorite? Favorite character? Why?

Well, I have only written four and three of them are shorts and one of them is in its way early stages so I’d have to say “Right Here Waiting” is my favorite at the moment. Mostly because it was the first one I ever wrote and I was SO worried about what everyone would think. I love that people still seem to find it and let me know what they think about it.
Favorite character, hmmm. At the moment I would have to say Amy only because Stacey is still kind of developing in my head. Both of these characters are strong, but don’t want to make anyone upset so they seemed to get pulled in different directions (much like myself) but also go with the flow to make others happy. Amy is independent, successful (at least on her way), happy and content with where she is in life and I only hope to truly be that way someday.

7. What do you think makes a good story?

I think the plot is the major key. The story has to be something different. We all love happily ever after stories, but the journey to the end has to keep us entertained. Drama is fun and it keeps us guessing. You want a story line that will keep someone guessing, a twist here or there isn’t bad. This also goes for the characters, make sure you develop them thoroughly so there is no question about who they are and what they are capable of. :-D

Also, grammar, spelling, etc. I’m the last person to talk about grammar, if I didn’t have Christine I don’t know what I would do. Sometimes it matters to people and sometimes they can look past it. But you want the work to reflect you in a good way.

8. Is there any story (or book) you wish you could have written? Why?

There are many fan fiction writers out there that I wish I could write like. I wouldn’t want to write any of their stories though because I don’t think I could have done it quiet as well. Some authors take SO much time to research their stories, and you can tell the effort they put into it. When reading some of these stories, my heart literally aches for the characters and I don’t ever know if I could make someone feel that way.
As far as stories unrelated to fan fiction, I would say maybe something like the Harry Potter series or Twilight Saga. The fact that these women literally had an idea, a scene in mind and came up with a number of characters and books is crazy. I wish I could be that creative, original and confident enough to show it to someone.

9. Do you have any writing tips?

I’m probably the last person to give advice but I’ll write a few tips that have helped me.
Don’t be afraid to let things sit for a day or two. I always find it best to type something out, making no corrections and let it sit for a day before posting it. This way, you’ll think about what you’ve just written already and usually you make a few changes here or there. Then go over and make your corrections and read it through. People will wait for you to post.

Also, get someone you trust to look over your stuff. Sometimes the way you write something doesn’t come off the way you really mean it. :-D It’s always good to get another person’s perspective before you post it. It doesn’t hurt if they look at your grammar either.

10. Who’s your pick to be the next author interviewed?

I had a few in mind, but in the end I would have to say queensofpattinson. I’m currently in love with her story “You Found Me” and I’d like to know a little insight to her writing process and history.

From Readers:

1. Have you ever had a story idea that popped out of nowhere and it’s stuck in you head for awhile until you write it down? – xxpunkgurl21xx

Yes of course! Although, I don’t get so much story ideas as I do snippets. Like I’ll be watching something or listening to music and a scenario will pop into my head. Usually the characters of my current story pop into my head and I try to think about how it could be used in the story I’m writing. Usually I grab my notebook and try and write out what I can. A lot of things give me ideas, it’s just getting them right on paper and getting it typed is my big issue. :-D

2. Do you ever think you will turn Right Here Waiting in to a full story? cause I would love that..just saying! - queens_of_pattinson

LoL. You are too funny. Okay, so the deal with “Right Here Waiting” is I do feel that Amy and Rob’s story is incomplete. I feel like the readers of “Right Here Waiting” have the right to know what happens to them. So here is the thing, I am planning a sequel to the story, which will also be a one-shot but told from Rob’s perspective (which I’ve never done before so bare with me). I have most of it written down (plus more ideas floating around) but it’s just being able to sit down and type it all out, making necessary changes, and looking it over. I do plan on doing it though, so keep a look out for it. :) Sound good?

Is there anything else you would like to say or share with us?

Like most people I would like to thank Christine for not only creating this site, keeping it maintained and updated but also for looking at my work for me. It means a lot that I have someone who I know will give me their honest opinion about something I’ve done. You’ve been so supportive and pushing me to just write something and get it out there. I have no idea how I did it before. Haha. Thank you!

Also, thanks to everyone who has read or reviewed my stories!! It really means a lot to me that you are enjoying them and want to know what’s going to happen. Please feel free to drop me a line anytime. I have to say the readers on this site are the best ever!!
